Relocating a Liverpool Office, With One Manager Running The Whole Job

Every commercial move here gets a moving manager, and that is the part worth understanding before you compare quotes.

A moving manager plans and project manages the relocation from the survey through to the last workstation being switched on. One person holds the schedule, deals with both landlords, sequences the floors and answers the phone when something slips. The alternative, which is a crew turning up on the day with a van and a job sheet, is why office moves overrun.

Britannia Fleet has run business relocations from Knowsley Business Park since 1972, for companies across Liverpool, Merseyside, Knowsley and Sefton. The work runs from a few desks through to multi-site projects.

A typical job of this kind

Move type Commercial and office relocation
Route Within Liverpool, or across Merseyside and the North West
Size A single department through to a multi-site project
Managed by A named moving manager, from survey to sign-off
Services used Survey, project plan, IT dismantling and re-installation, crate handling
Also available On-site shredding, business storage up to 8,000 sq ft

What the moving manager actually does

They survey both buildings, write the plan, agree the sequence with you, brief the crews and stay on the job. Access is settled at survey rather than discovered on the day, which for Liverpool city-centre offices usually means lift booking, loading bay slots and whatever the building management will and will not allow after hours.

The plan sets the order of the move, and the order is what protects your trading days. Meeting rooms, spare desks and archive boxes go early. Reception, the phones and finance go last.

IT, and putting it back together

Expensive and complex IT is the part most businesses worry about, and reasonably so. Equipment is dismantled, wrapped, moved and re-installed rather than unplugged and stacked in a van. Where a job needs specialist handling equipment, it gets hired in and planned for rather than improvised.

The question worth asking any mover is whether they will reconnect what they disconnect. Here they will.

Confidential documents, handled properly

This is where Fleet does something most regional movers cannot. Confidential paperwork can be taken into secure storage, or destroyed, and the destruction is carried out to BS EN 15713 with a certificate issued once it has taken place. A team can come to your premises and shred on site, so sensitive files never leave the building intact.

An office move is the moment most companies discover how much retained paper they are holding and how little of it they still need. Dealing with it during the move costs less than moving it twice.

Protecting both buildings

Protection goes down at the building you are leaving and the one you are entering. Floors, doorways, lift interiors and corridors. Dilapidations disputes and new-landlord arguments both start with damage caused on move day, and both are cheaper to prevent than to settle.

When the new premises are not ready

Business storage at Knowsley bridges the gap, in units from 35 square feet up to 8,000. The site runs to 10 acres with a 48,000 square foot warehouse, so a phased move stays possible rather than becoming a problem. Stock, furniture, IT and archived records can all sit there until the fit-out finishes.

Where we are, and why it matters

The depot is on Knowsley Business Park, which sits on the M57 and close to the M62. For a business moving anywhere across Merseyside, that is a short run at both ends of the day rather than a long one, and it shows up in the quote.
