Company History
We have been carrying out professional removals and storage services within Liverpool and the surrounding areas for over 50 years
The company was formed in 1972 as Fleet Removals by Mal Fleet, the father of the current owner who is also Mal Fleet! Bear with us this may get more confusing later.
Mal continued to grow the business and in 1978 his son Mal Fleet joined the business working on the vans with the aim of learning every aspect of the removals business. At this point Mal and Mal added “Fleet Business Services” to the company to allow us to compete in the commercial removals sector.
Under the guidance of Mal and Mal the business continued to expand and grow, gaining an ever improving reputation for high quality and friendly service. The company became increasingly prominent across Merseyside with our vans featuring in the very first episode of Brookside, moving some of the new neighbours into the famous Brookside Close.
By now Fleet Removals had expanded into its own premises allowing us to offer storage to our customers at our dedicated warehouse in Stretton Way. This allowed us to create a fantastic new income stream and further expand the services we were able to offer.
In 1996 Fleet Removals joined The Britannia Moving Group and began trading as Britannia Fleet Removals. Mal and Mal retained complete ownership of the company but were able to access new markets as part of the worldwide Britannia brand.
In 1998 Mal took over complete control of the company from his dad Mal and the company was officially incorporated at Companies House as “The Quality Moving Group Ltd”. This still allowed us to operate under our trading names of “Fleet Removals”, “Fleet Business Services” and “Britannia Fleet Removals”.
In 2006 Mal, the son of current owner Mal and grandson of the original founder of the company (also Mal) joined the family business. Like his father Mal started work on the vans, dealing with customers and learning the industry day by day. One year later in 2007 the company moved to its current location in Knowsley.
In 2012 Mal was invited to be a board member of Britannia Movers International, an important role making decisions within the group and helping to guide the group of 40+ companies across the world.
In 2015 we added our first batch of self-store units to the site to allow us to compete in the ever growing self-store market and recently we have added a further batch of self-store units that are quickly selling out.
We continue to forge relationships in the local and wider community and look forward to helping people solve their storage problems and assisting them in moving their items or businesses locally and across the world.
