Meet The Team

Britannia Fleet Removals & Storage are able to boast over 50 years experience, throughout which they have managed to grow exponentially and become a member of the largest group of family run removal companies in the country, Britannia Movers International. The progression of the company is understandable when you get chance to meet the driving force behind every move, the office team.

Mal Fleet – Managing Director

Mal Fleet is the Managing Director of Britannia Fleet Liverpool, taking over the business in 2006 after it was owned and run by his father. Mal’s route through the industry has been hands on from the start. He began in his late teens working on the vans and carrying out removals day in, day out, building up practical experience and deep knowledge of the job from the ground up. That background has given him a strong understanding of what customers need, as well as the realities of running a reliable removals and storage operation.

Known for driving continual improvement across the business, Mal has played a key role in developing Britannia Fleet Liverpool’s capability and capacity over the years. One of the biggest milestones under his leadership was the move from Stretton Way in Huyton to larger premises on Randles Road in Knowsley. The relocation significantly expanded household and commercial storage capacity and brought added specialist capability, including a 20 ton overhead crane that enables the team to load and offload 20ft and 40ft containers when required.

Mal also serves as a board member of the Britannia Movers Group, reflecting the value placed on his experience, knowledge and insight within the wider network. Customers can expect a business that is well run, well equipped, and always focused on improving service and standards, with Mal’s practical approach shaping how the company delivers every job.

Mal Fleet Jr – Operations Director

As Operations Director at Britannia Fleet, Mal Fleet Jr is responsible for the planning and day to day running of transport and operations, making sure every job is delivered safely, efficiently, and with the level of care customers expect. Mal’s route into the industry began in 2005, and he has been full time since 2013. He started on the front line as a porter and steadily worked his way up, gaining experience at every stage, from 3.5 tonne driving through to becoming a Class 1 HGV driver and Transport Manager.

That hands-on background means Mal understands removals and logistics from every angle, from planning and scheduling through to delivering on site. He is particularly known within Britannia Fleet for his operational planning, practical problem solving, and strong driving experience. Alongside his Class 1 licence, Mal holds full forklift truck qualifications and has contributed to specialist moves, including supporting the relocation of the bee exhibition from World Museum Liverpool to a museum in Ontario, Canada.

Customers working with Mal can expect a professional and respectful approach, with clear communication and thorough preparation. He also values the people side of the business, enjoying the friendly, close knit team that helps make busy days run well. Outside of work, Mal is big on keeping fit and spending time with his family. His guiding principle is: “Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.”

Ashley Fleet – Office Manager

Ashley Fleet is the Office Manager at Britannia Fleet and is very much the person who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Having started with the business at just 16 as a Saturday girl, Ashley has now been part of the team for 24 years, growing with the company and building a deep understanding of how the business works day to day.

Ashley’s role covers a wide mix of responsibilities that keep both customers and staff supported. From payroll, pensions, petty cash and job auditing, through to managing staff holidays, shredding and general office organisation, she is involved across the day to day administration that keeps the operation on track. Ashley also supports domestic delivery administration, quotes and online enquiries, handles insurance claims and complaints when needed, and steps in to cover basic accounts when colleagues are away. She works closely with Mal and the wider team to make sure the office stays organised and the service stays consistent.

What Ashley enjoys most is being part of a family run business and seeing the company continue to grow and develop from where it all started more than 50 years ago. She also loves the culture within the team, where everyone gets along, has a laugh, and a good sense of humour is a must.

Outside of work, Ashley is big on self care and keeping active, spending time at the gym and enjoying spin, yoga, pilates and weights, alongside more calming favourites like meditation, sound baths and anything zen. Her motto sums up her energy perfectly: “A day without laughter is a day wasted” and “YOLO.”

Chris Dooley – Facilities Manager

Chris Dooley is the Facilities Manager at Britannia Fleet and is one of the people who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Chris joined the company in 2007 as a warehouse operative during the move from Huyton to Knowsley, and from the very start he became known for his hard work, reliability, and quick wit.

Just over three years ago, Chris made the transition into the office, bringing with him years of practical experience and a real understanding of how the operation works day to day. In his current role, Chris makes sure vehicles, equipment and facilities are prepared and ready to go, helping every job stay on track and supporting the wider team to deliver a consistent service.

Customers might not always see Chris on moving day, but the difference he makes is felt in the details, the smooth running, the preparation, and the reassurance that the right kit and resources are in place. It is part of what helps Britannia Fleet support families and businesses to move with less stress and better planning, whether that is across Liverpool, nationally, or internationally.

Chris is a key part of the friendly, careful and reliable service customers expect, from first quote to final box.

Amanda Tierney – Office Administrator

Amanda Tierney is an Office Administrator at Britannia Fleet and plays a key role in coordinating a wide range of removals, including domestic, commercial, trade, European and international moves. With 25 years of experience in the industry, Amanda brings a steady, knowledgeable approach and a real understanding of what it takes to keep a move running smoothly, especially when there are extra layers of planning involved.

Amanda supports customers from start to finish, helping to keep everything organised and on track through each stage of the process. She is particularly valued for her understanding of customs procedures, which is a big reassurance for customers moving to and from Europe or further afield. Having someone who knows what paperwork is needed, what to expect, and how to avoid delays can make a huge difference, and Amanda’s experience helps take the pressure off.

Customers working with Amanda can expect clear communication, thorough support throughout their removals, and a calm point of contact who genuinely wants the move to feel straightforward and well managed.

Amanda’s working motto sums up her approach perfectly: “Strive for progress, not perfection.”

Hayley Wood – Office Administrator

Hayley Wood is an Administrator at Britannia Fleet and is responsible for the military department, supporting service personnel with relocations and making sure each move is planned properly from start to finish. With 20 years of experience in the industry, Hayley brings a calm, knowledgeable approach to a role that often involves tight timelines, lots of coordination, and plenty of moving parts.

Hayley specialises in the MOD side of the business, assisting with moves for soldiers within the UK and to and from Europe. That means keeping communication clear, staying on top of the details, and helping everything progress smoothly at every stage, from the initial arrangements through to completion.

Customers working with Hayley can expect full support throughout their move, with her main aim always being to make the process as stress free as possible. She enjoys speaking to new people and being able to take pressure off customers by guiding them through what can be a busy and emotional time.

Hayley’s approach is summed up by the saying she lives by: “A problem shared is a problem halved.”

Derek Bardwa – Sales Manager

As Sales Manager at Britannia Fleet, Derek Bardwa looks after sales across all types of moves and storage requirements, helping customers find the right solution for their circumstances and making sure nothing gets missed in the detail. With a career that began in 1979, Derek brings decades of experience to every enquiry. He started out as an office boy, went on to own his own company, and now uses that hard earned knowledge to support customers and guide the wider team.

Within Britannia Fleet, Derek is known as a sound all rounder with an experienced eye for what a move really involves, from logistics and access through to timings, packing needs, and the right level of storage. He is a National and International Road Transport CPC holder and remains active within the BAR (British Association of Removers), keeping close to best practice across the industry.

Customers working with Derek can expect clear advice, honest recommendations, and a steady hand throughout the process, with a focus on making sure the plan fits the job properly. Derek enjoys the role because no two days are ever the same. Outside of work, he is heavily involved in local tennis, serving as Tournament Secretary for the Southport and District Tennis League and also for Southbank Tennis Club. His motto sums him up well: “Life is for living. Work hard, rest hard and play hard.”

Jordan Murphy – Sales

Jordan Murphy works in Sales at Britannia Fleet, supporting customers from the first enquiry right through to moving day. Day to day, Jordan prepares and sends quotes, answers questions, and stays in touch throughout the process to make sure customers feel informed and looked after at every stage.

Jordan joined Britannia Fleet in May 2022 and has quickly become a familiar face across the business, getting involved in a bit of everything and supporting different areas whenever needed. That well rounded approach means Jordan has a strong understanding of how the moving process comes together, and can help customers with clear guidance, quick updates, and practical next steps.

Customers working with Jordan can expect friendly, responsive communication, clear information, and a steady hand throughout what can be a stressful time, especially when plans are changing or there are lots of moving parts to consider.

Outside of work, Jordan enjoys playing golf and is a member at Blundells Hill Golf Club in Rainhill.

John Mccormick – Move Surveyor

John McCormick is a Move Surveyor at Britannia Fleet and is often the first point of contact when customers are planning a home or business move. John’s role is all about understanding what is required, asking the right questions, and turning that into a clear, realistic plan that helps the move run smoothly from the outset.

As a Move Surveyor, John carries out surveys and assessments, gathers key details about access, parking, timings and any special requirements, and then helps shape the quote and the approach for the job. This early stage is vital in making sure customers know what to expect and that the team arrives fully prepared on moving day.

Customers working with John can expect a friendly and professional approach, clear communication, and honest guidance based on experience. His aim is to make the process feel straightforward, well organised and as stress free as possible, with no surprises on the day.

John plays an important part in the planning that Britannia Fleet is known for, helping customers feel confident from the very beginning.
