Liverpool To Italy Removals Specialists

Moving To Italy

Italy has never stopped drawing British movers, and somewhere in the region of 65,000 Brits already call it home. If you are planning the same move from Liverpool or anywhere across Merseyside, Britannia Fleet takes on the whole journey, from the first box packed at your address to the last item carried into your new home.

We have been moving households out of the North West and into Europe for more than four decades. Milan, Rome, Bologna, Florence, Turin, Naples or a farmhouse in the Umbrian hills, the destination changes but the standard does not. Full loads, part loads and single items are all handled by the same team, on a schedule agreed with you before anything moves. If you are still weighing up destinations, our European removals service covers the rest of the continent.

Moving to Italy - The Britannia Fleet Way

Every Italian move starts with a free pre-move survey. A surveyor walks through your home, lists what is going and flags anything needing specialist packing. They also ask the questions that actually decide the cost of an international move: access at both ends, lift dimensions, and how much of the volume is genuinely coming with you rather than going to the tip.

That survey produces a fixed quote and a written plan. From there a single move coordinator owns your file, so you have one name and one number for the whole job instead of a different voice every time you ring.

Italian Customs Paperwork, Handled

Household goods entering Italy are now treated as an import and need a formal customs declaration. Relief from duty and VAT on personal effects is available to people transferring their residence, but it rests on documents you need in hand before the load leaves the UK, including your Italian tax code and evidence that you are registering as a resident with your local comune.

We prepare and lodge the declaration through our Italian agent, tell you which documents to obtain and when, and check the inventory against them before the vehicle is sealed. Paperwork is the single most common reason a shipment sits at a border, so we would rather spend an extra week on documents than have your belongings held in a bonded warehouse.

ZTL Zones, Narrow Streets And Italian Access

Italian delivery addresses come with quirks that catch out firms who do not run the route regularly. Most historic centres sit inside a ZTL, a restricted traffic zone that bars unauthorised vehicles during set hours and issues fines by camera. Permits are applied for in advance through the local comune, and we handle that during planning rather than discovering it on the doorstep.

Stairwells in older Italian buildings are narrow and lifts are often too small for a wardrobe. Where that is the case we arrange an external furniture hoist, which is standard practice in Italy and far quicker than dismantling everything twice. Your surveyor identifies which of these apply to your address before you commit to a moving date.

Safe And Secure From Door To Door

Loads bound for Italy are packed in industrial strength materials, then loaded so nothing shifts on a journey that runs the length of France and over the Alps. Glass, artwork and instruments are cased individually. If you would rather pack part of it yourself, we supply the same boxes and packing materials our crews use.

Every vehicle is tracked, so we can tell you where your consignment is at any point in the journey. Your payment is held under a Pre-Payment Bond until the goods arrive, and a range of insurance cover is available for the incidents no amount of care prevents, such as an accident at sea or on the road.

If your Italian property is not ready, or you are downsizing before you go, your belongings can wait in our Knowsley storage facility and travel on a later departure.

Moving Back From Italy To The UK

The route works both ways. We collect from addresses across Italy and deliver into Liverpool, Merseyside and the rest of the UK, with the same customs handling in reverse and storage at this end if your UK property is not ready. Coming home after a few years in Italy is a regular job for us rather than an exception we have to plan around.

Why Choose Britannia Fleet For Your Move To Italy?

Britannia Fleet is a family run firm based at Knowsley Business Park and part of Britannia Movers International. You deal with local people who know the area, backed by a national and European network. We are accredited members of the British Association of Removers, which brings audited standards and financial protection an uninspected operator cannot offer.

It also means the crew that handles house removals in Liverpool and office moves across Merseyside is the crew that loads your Italian departure. Nothing at the UK end is passed to a subcontractor you have never met.

Are You Ready For Your Italian Move?

If you are in Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens or anywhere else across the North West and Italy is next, we can quote it. A single crate to Sicily or a five bedroom house to Lake Como, the process starts the same way, with a conversation about what you are moving and when.

Speak to the team direct on 0151 482 0432 or email sales@fleetremovals.co.uk. You can also request a quote and one of the team will come back to you at a time that suits.
